The Los Angeles Black Worker Center’s (LABWC) mission is to increase access to quality jobs, reduce employment discrimination, and improve industries that employ Black workers through action and unionization. We are creating the stability and resources needed for our communities to prosper in the immediate term—and for generations to come.

Ready 2 Work

Strengthening our skills and leadership

Our Ready 2 Work program is a series of workshops where Black workers share political education and build the skills needed to succeed in the workplace. The program provides a welcoming environment to receive industry-specific coaching and mentorship. Participants learn best practices for the job application and interview process, as well as how to navigate challenges that may arise at work.

Protect Black workers

Black workers can't wait any longer. We need local civil and human rights departments to be able to step in when employers break the law. Senate Bill 16 helps discrimination claims get addressed faster—and creates local enforcement. Stay informed on the progress of this bill.

Are you a Black worker in Los Angeles facing discrimination at work? The LABWC partners with the organization Legal Aid at Work to provide legal clinics that assist workers experiencing injustices. Connect with a legal advocate at an upcoming legal clinic.
